That's why competitive shooters like CS and Siege have many more players. No clear learning curve, no metagame and little opportunity to make "wow" plays. Semi-realistic and realistic shooters die quickly because apart from die-hard fans of such games, there's little to keep other people playing. I'm starting to lose faith in Tripwire as the only things they have going on now are the unsatisfying Killing Floor sequel and RS2: Vietnam, a game which they're only publishing. Of course this is fine if you haven't played much Insurgency/RO2 or first got into tactical shooters with these games but for those of us who've been playing these sorts of games for longer they really feel like they're stagnating with the most recent iterations.Īt least NWI is making Insurgency 2 which is on a new engine and has a different feature set. Basically the same thing that happened to CoD over the years is happening to these two tactical shooter franchises. Instead we got very similar games on the same engines with the same core gameplay and systems. I loved RS2/Insurgency in the past but burnt out of both and was awaiting an evolution of that formula that took a big departure from those games in some ways. I feel the same way about RS2: Vietnam to be honest. It adds some interesting new mechanics and puts a neat spin on the formula but it's still Insurgency and it's still on the Source engine. At its core, it's still Insurgency, a game which I have a ridiculous number of hours in (more if you count the mod). /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
